NJC recommends appointment of 21 judges

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 21 judicial officers for appointment as chief judges, kadis and judges in some states.

This announcement was contained in a statement issued by Soji Oye, spokesman of NJC, on Friday.

“The National Judicial Council under the chairmanship of the honourable Mr. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen (GCON) at its 86th meeting, which was held on 8th and 9th May, 2018, recommended the under-listed names of 21 successful candidates as heads of courts and judicial officers for the federal/state high courts and the Code of Conduct Tribunal,” the statement read.

“The newly appointed candidates will be sworn in after the approval of the president and their respective state governors as the case may be.”

  • Elizabeth A. Karatu, chief judge Kebbi state
  • Musa Danladi Abubakar, chief judge Katsina state
  • Alhafiz Mikail Abubakar, grand kadi Katsina state
  • Abbazih Musa Abubakar Saddeeq, president FCT customary court of appeal
  • Bilikisu Gambo Yusuf, high court judge Niger state
  • Ishaku Usman, high court judge Niger state
  • Musa Mustapha, high court judge Borno state
  • Baba Gani Karumi, high court judge Borno state
