Nn’emeka Maduegbuna asks Soludo to tackle insecurity in Anambra

Nn’emeka Maduegbuna, a communications consultant, has called on Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra state, to address the rising insecurity in the state.

Since 2021, following the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and the establishment of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), insecurity in the south-east, particularly in Anambra state, has intensified.

The ESN has been accused of involvement in abductions, killings, and communal clashes, alongside enforcing a controversial Monday sit-at-home directive across the region.

In a statement on Tuesday, Maduegbuna said the killings in the state were “unacceptable” and pose a serious threat to the lives and well-being of citizens.

He said the Soludo-led administration must work closely with security agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to address the root cause of the violence.

Maduegbuna, who decried the level of insecurity in the state especially in Ihiala LGA, urged the governor to take immediate action to provide adequate security for its residents.

“Governor Soludo must take decisive action to address the escalating security concerns in Anambra State, particularly in the Ihiala area,” the statement reads.

“The recent killings and mayhem are unacceptable and pose a significant threat to the lives and well-being of citizens.

“Governor Soludo’s administration must work closely with security agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies to combat insecurity in the state.

“This may involve increasing the presence of security personnel in troubled areas, improving intelligence gathering, and addressing the root causes of the violence.

“The people of Anambra state deserve to live in peace and security, and it is Governor Soludo’s duty to ensure that this fundamental right is protected.
