NNPC shuts Lagos clinic for ‘suspected Ebola’

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has shut down its clinic at Victoria Island, following suspicions that a patient at the clinic is down with Ebola.

According to group general manager, group public affairs division of NNPC, Ohi Alegbe, the closedown of the clinic is a preventive measure.

“The management of the NNPC has announced the indefinite shutdown of its clinic in the Muri Okunola area of Victoria Island, Lagos, following a suspected case of Ebola virus on admission at the clinic,” Alegbe said.

“It was discovered that the patient visited the First Consultant Medical Centre during the period the first Ebola case was reported at that clinic.”

He said that in the meantime, all contacts with the case are being traced while adequate precautionary measures are being instituted to contain the possible spread of the disease.

He also said the medical team had assured that the patient is in “stable condition”.
