The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has restored TotalEnergies daily crude oil production after intervening in the oil workers’ industrial action.

TotalEnergies produces 275, 000 barrels of oil per day.

Olufemi Soneye, NNPC’s chief corporate communications officer, said, on Sunday, NNPC brokered a deal between TotalEnergies, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

Following NNPC’s intervention, Soneye said the unions have agreed to suspend ongoing industrial action.

In September 2023, PENGASSAN and NUPENG had threatened to withdraw their services from Total, Chevron, in protest of the sale of Eni Nigeria’s stake in Nigeria Agip Oil Company to Oando Plc.

In a statement shared via NNPC’s X, formerly Twitter, handle, Soneye said a communiqué was issued “at the end of a marathon negotiation session chaired by Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Ltd., all parties committed to resolving all the issues within an agreed framework”.

“The communiqué was signed by TotalEnergies MD/CEO Matthieu Bouyer, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, and NUPENG President, Comrade Williams Akporegha,” he said.
