Don’t address me as General, says Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president-elect, says he no longer wants to be addressed by his military appellation of ‘General’ upon assumption of office as president on May 29.

Garba Shehu, head of the directorate of media and publicity of the Buhari campaign organisation, made this known on Sunday while unveiling the official portrait of Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo, the vice-president-elect.

On his part, Osinbajo would love to be addressed as ‘Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, Vice-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria’.

  1. The President -Elect should be addressed as Alhaji just like Alhaji Shehu Shagari and Obansajo who chose Chief in place of Gen. Alhaji Mohammdu Buhari is honorable and appropriate, before University Councils start falling over themselves with Hon.Doctorate Degrees on him.

    1. First off the man has decided and announced how he wishes to be addressed officially. It is his right to do so and should not be open to debate. Secondly even if he attached every known title in this world to his name it will not stop anyone who wishes to do so from conferring titles on him. What is important is what he does for this nation as it’s president

  2. BUHARI u seem s to be more enlightened and civilised than most of all nigerian past president. Just from d way u want to be addressed have made me to start having a second thought that u may have something better for Nigerians, u didn’t act like d stupid nigerians who love ambiguous and elaborated titles but have nothing to offer academically, morally and humanly.nigerians need simplicity personified leaders and not statues with status without brain. I don’t respect your tittle rather I your good work as a good leader. Besides titles are earned not bought.. U have got to work for it then people will ordain it on u. Mr Muhammad Buhari I respect you for this example…..Osimbajo u seems to be a professor and a SAN Buhari is equal to d task to work with u and take nigerians to d promise land..the ball is on your court.

  3. A president is straight simple Mr. President and his Vice is Mr. Vice President. Nothing that sounds like a tittle on a Zegbrudioa show. With all respect please. Tt
