No reason to fear Nigeria, says Congo’s coach

Congo coach, Claude LeRoy, is ready to inflict further misery on Nigeria when he takes his side to Port Harcourt for a 2016 Olympic Games qualifier against the Dream Team on Sunday.

The Red Devils defeated the Super Eagles 3-2 last year in Calabar during a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier which ultimately denied Nigeria a place at the finals in Equatorial Guinea.

The 67-year-old Frenchman is now looking to do a double over Nigeria this time the U-23 side coached by Samson Siasia.

“We are in an identical position to last year with no one beyond Congo giving us a chance,” LeRoy said.

“But my team have a huge chance of not only eliminating Nigeria but qualifying for the Rio Olympics.

“There is no reason why we should fear Nigeria. Congolese football has made tremendous progress recently and we must maintain that improvement.”

Congo have already eliminated Ghana, a former Olympics football bronze medallists.
