No sentiments in naming final list, says Flying Eagles coach

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, has disclosed that sentiment won’t becloud his judgment as he prunes down the list of players from 28 to 21 for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship.

Nigeria has to submit a final 21-man squad for the championship in Senegal to CAF by midnight of Thursday.

And with seven players to be dropped, Garba has promised to be fair to all.

“The selection we are going to make will not be fraught with sentiments, I can promise you that,” he told sl10.ng.

“It is strictly going to be based on what each player has contributed since we started this process, not what they did in the past.

“I know everybody probably thinks the team will be made up predominantly of the last U-17 boys, and even though that is possible, it will be because they deserve to be in the team and not because they played in the U-17.”

The Nigeria U-20s are due to fly out for a training tour ahead of the tournament which kicks off March 8 in Dakar, Senegal.
