Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, is not carried away with the impressive showing of his team in the Super Six invitational tournament saying the team is still work in progress.
The U-20 team has won all their games so far in the competition but Garba said there’s still room for improvement.
“The team has gained much playing against much older and experienced players at this Super Four tournament which I believe will serve them well,” he told supersport.com.
“Despite the victories, we are not going to be over confident; it will serve as a morale booster for the boys. We are also going to work on converting our goal scoring chances. We created a lot but we didn’t score as many as we should. Chances like we got won’t come easy in tight and competitive matches, so we have to work on those.”

The team is missing some key players but Garba is confident the players he has can do well in Senegal during the Africa Youth Championship in March.
“I’m satisfied with what we have on ground now. We still have a few weeks to work on the team so we can still fortify the team,” the former Golden Eaglets coach said.
“We have already seen some good players from the teams we have played here and we might invite them to come and fight for places in the team. If someone like Isaac Success comes in definitely he will have a good chance of making the team because he is already playing in the first team of Granada, who play in La Liga.

“We are also expecting our defender Wilfred Ndidi from Genk in Belgium. If he comes in, it will make our defence much more solid.”
The junior national team will meet the national U-23 team in their last match of the Super Six on Sunday.
