‘Not very sound education’ is responsible for Eduok’s misfortune, says Amokachi

Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, has blamed lack of information and education on Emem Eduok’s transfer imbroglio.

Eduok is caught in the web of double registration after signing for Norwegian side, Sarpsborg 08 and then Esperance of Tunisia.

He could be banned by FIFA and Amokachi blames it all on ignorance.

“It’s not the fault of the players because we have just about anybody that poses as an agent and you see them always roaming around players and they convince players to do stupid things,” Amokachi said.

“We should understand that we footballers usually come from the ghetto and most of us are not very sound education wise and when they give you a paper you just sign and you don’t even know what you’re doing.

“But I think we should focus more on informing the players and the clubs, they have to focus on educating the players on who to talk to. If somebody approaches them, they should have somebody reliable enough to represent them.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said it was now allowing the Dolphins striker to return to the national team.

The decision was revealed in the communiqué of the federation board meeting held on Thursday in Lagos to discuss important issues in Nigerian football.

Amaju Pinnick, president of NFF, had earlier asked the player to leave the camp of the Super Eagles Team B in Abuja, preparing for two friendly matches against Ivory Coast and Sudan in Abu Dhabi. But he’s now free to join the team.

“In line with a directive by the NFF president, the chairman of technical and development committee, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, presented the report of his investigation into the controversy over the transfer of Eduok.

“The report was immediately referred to the Committee on Ethics and Fairplay for prompt and decisive action.
