Isah Ashiru, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna, says the results of the election in the state do not reflect the wish of the majority of voters.
On Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Uba Sani, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election.
Sani scored 730,002 votes to defeat Ashiru, who polled 719,196 votes.
Ashiru, in a statement signed by Reuben Buhari, member of the PDP campaign council, thanked residents of the state for their support during the elections.

He however said he would review the electoral process, including the results, to determine the next course of action.
“People who believed in the vision my party and I stood for, showed exemplary dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to our project,” the statement reads.
“Despite challenges that include fuel and cash scarcity, insecurity, and threat, people still braved the odds to go and vote.

“And while the announcement of the results went through several postponements, they patiently and peacefully waited.
“I remain grateful for such commendable passion and support, especially the insight and guidance provided to me.”
He called on all supporters of the PDP and those who desire genuine leadership in Kaduna state to remain calm and peaceful.
