NPA to honour 567 workers

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) says it will reward 530 people who have been in the employ of the organisation for 25 years.

NPA, which announced this in a statement, said this is as a result of the determination of the current management of the authority to “recognise and reward the hard work and loyalty” of staff members.

The statement said Hadiza Bala Usman, managing director of the organisation, has continued to reiterate her commitment to the welfare of staff with the understanding that this was central to having the right quality of staff and maintain high morale.

Seven other people will receive the newly instituted merit award by the management of NPA, while 30 firemen would be recognised for their “gallantry” during a recent fire incident in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
