NPFL wrap-up: Nasarawa edge Enyimba in seven-goal thriller as Lobi win big

Seventeen goals were scored in the 24th round of matches played in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

Lobi Stars recorded the biggest winning margin of the weekend to maintain top spot with 43 points.

This is how it played out across the 10 centres:

Nasarawa United 4-3 Enyimba FC

Nasarawa United recorded a 4-3 victory over Enyimba at the Lafia City Stadium.

Abdulrahman Bashir gave the People’s Elephants an early lead, but the Solid Miners drew level through Emmanuel Makama.

Nojeem Olukokun struck a cool finish past Theophilus Afelokhai before Zinte Udeh added the third for Nasarawa before halftime.

Chinedu Udeagha scored for Enyimba to make it 2-3 shortly after the resumption but Makama put Nasarawa further ahead from the penalty spot.

Freedom Omofoman popped up with Enyimba’s third, and despite their late wobble, Nasarawa held on to the win.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah 0-1 MFM FC

MFM FC stunned FC Ifeanyi Ubah 1-0 at the Fortress in the biggest shock of the weekend. Balogun Alade scored the goal for the visitors.

Lobi Stars 3-0 Yobe Desert Stars

They might be coasting clear at the top of the log, but Lobi Stars wanted more, and they scored three against a poor Yobe Desert Stars side.

David Tyavkase scored the opener in the third minute while Austin Ogunye added a second. Cletus Itodo put the icing on the cake despite a red card to Samad Kadiri.

Heartland 1-0 Go Round

Heartland’s eight-game winless run came to an end when they pipped Go Round 1-0 thanks to Zeidine Ahemeye’s spot kick.

Akwa United 2-0 Niger Tornadoes

Goals from Paul Obata and Gabriel Wassa were enough for Akwa United to beat Niger Tornadoes 2-0.

The Promise Keepers had goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo to thank for stopping Andrew Ikefe’s penalty kick.

Wikki Tourists 1-0 Kwara United

Ocheme Edoh helped Wikki Tourists to a 1-0 win over Kwara United.

El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 Plateau United

Plateau United managed to keep El-Kanemi Warriors in check for 60 minutes with a tactically-disciplined performance. However, Sunday Anthony bagged the solitary goal for the hosts.

Abia Warriors 0-0 Kano Pillars

Ibrahim Musa demonstrated his impressive man-management skills as his team Kano Pillars fought hard to pick a 0-0 draw at Abia Warriors.

Rivers United 0-0 Sunshine Stars

Sunshine Stars showed grit to draw 0-0 with Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

Katsina United 1-0 Enugu Rangers

Katsina United recorded their 11th victory of the season; a scrappy 1-0 win over Enugu Rangers.
