NPFL: Plateau bounce back as Sunshine stun Rivers in P’Harcourt

Plateau United defeated FC Ifeanyi Ubah 1-0 on Wednesday to remain atop the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Emma James scored Plateau’s goal from the spot in the 13th minute after Stephen Eze brought down Hamzat Owolabi in the 18-yard box.

Plateau now have 54 points on the log.

In Enugu, champions Rangers were leading MFM FC 1-0 before the game was postponed due to heavy rain and a water logged pitch.

In Lafia, Adamu Hassan’s brace secured maximum points for the home team against El Kanemi while Haliru Hashimu pulled one back for the visitors in the 53rd minute.

Enyimba came back from a goal down to defeat Lobi Stars in Calabar 2-1.

In Port Harcourt, Sunshine Stars stunned Rivers United 1-0 to claim the only away win of match day 30.

Kano Pillars lost 1-0 to Katsina United in the northern derby with Martins Usule scoring for the hosts in the 36th minute.

El Kanemi are now fifth on the log with 46 points.

3SC conceded a late goal to settle for a 1-1 away draw with Remo Stars in Sagamu.

In other matches, Wikki Tourists defeated ABS 1-0 in Bauchi, Gombe United drew 0-0 at home with Niger Tornadoes while Akwa United held Abia Warriors to a 0-0 draw to remain third on the log.
