NPFL: Plateau thrash Katsina 3-0 to leapfrog MFM

Plateau United secured another home victory by thrashing Katsina United 3-0 on Wednesday.

The pride of Jos made their intention known as early as the sixth minute when Joshua Obaje gave United the lead while Kabiru Umar made it two in the second minute of the second half.

Jimmy Ambrose completed the comprehensive victory with five minutes to the end of the game.

Plateau United now has 35 points from 18 matches, two points ahead of MFM who lost 2-0 in an away match with Akwa United.

FC IfeanyiUbah came from a goal down to beat Shooting Stars 2-1 in Nnewi with two second half penalties converted by last season top scorer, Godwin Obaje.

Shooting Stars had earlier stunned the host when they took the lead through Sunday Faleye in the first half.

Seven-time champions, Enyimba, continued their rise with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Remo Stars while Niger Tornadoes defeated Kano Pillars 1-0.

Wikki Tourists lost 2-0 to Abia Warriors while Lobi Stars overcame Sunshine Stars 3-1. The game between El-Kanemi Warriors and ABS ending 1-0 in favour of the home side.

The NPFL will embark on a two-week break with only outstanding matches to be played during the break.
