NPFL round-up: Plateau United thrash Bayelsa as Lobi end Doma’s unbeaten run

Plateau United trounced Bayelsa United 5-1 in their matchday 14 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

A hattrick from Albert Hilary and a goal each from Nenrot Silas and Izuchukwu Chimezie proved insurmountable for Bayelsa at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.

Ekeson Okorie’s goal was only a consolation for the away team, who stayed rooted to the bottom of the NPFL log.

At the Lafia Township Stadium, Lobi Stars defeated Doma United 2-1 on Sunday.

The defeat ended Doma’s nine-game unbeaten run, which extended to the 3-1 away loss at Shooting Stars in October.

Osayi Samuel, Doma’s goalkeeper, also saw his impressive run of clean sheets end. The goalkeeper had not been beaten for 814 minutes until Lobi’s Stan Ogabor put a goal beyond him in the fourth minute of the game. Suleman Mojereola doubled the lead for the home team in the 79th minute before Samuel Enefiok pulled one back for Doma.

The victory meant Lobi returned to joint top with Remo Stars at the league’s summit.
