NPFL: Sunshine defeat Gombe as Plateau United, MFM drop points

Two weeks after losing coach Austin Eguavoen, Sunshine Stars on Sunday returned to winning ways by beating Gombe 2-1 in Ijebu-Ode.

Abia Warriors, meanwhile, recorded their first ever win over Plateau United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

A brace from Shedrack Asiegbu destabilised the league leaders until Hamza Owolabi eked out a consolation goal for Plateau in the 80th minute.

Despite the loss, United remain five points clear of El Kanemi at the top of the league table.
