Two weeks after losing coach Austin Eguavoen, Sunshine Stars on Sunday returned to winning ways by beating Gombe 2-1 in Ijebu-Ode.
Abia Warriors, meanwhile, recorded their first ever win over Plateau United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
A brace from Shedrack Asiegbu destabilised the league leaders until Hamza Owolabi eked out a consolation goal for Plateau in the 80th minute.
Despite the loss, United remain five points clear of El Kanemi at the top of the league table.

Courtesy of a Sunday Anthony brace, El Kanemi defeated struggling Remo Stars 2-0 to end their three-game winless run in Maiduguri.
In Minna, Rangers held Niger Tornadoes to a 0-0 draw while Enyimba lost 1-0 to Nasarawa United with Bashir Abdulrahman’s 48th-minute goal making the difference.
A win for Enyimba would have taken the Aba Elephants to the second spot on the table.

Stephen Odey announced his return to the league with his 15th NPFL goal for MFM at the Sani Abacha Stadium but it was not enough to save the Olukoya’s boys from being thrashed 3-1 by Kano Pillars.
MFM are now third on the league table with 40 points.
At the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars rediscovered their winning formula by defeating ABS 2-0.
Two second half goals from Ibrahim Adebayo and Sunday Faleye gave the Oluwole Warriors the win.

Shooting Stars are now on 29 points and off the bottom of the table.
In other results, Wikki Tourists earned their first point on the road in a 0-0 draw against FC Ifeanyi Ubah while Ibrahim Alhassan scored his 11th goal of the season as Akwa United defeated Katsina United 2-0 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
