Omoyele, Ezenwa, Shammasu… TheCable’s NPFL team of the week

As is the case every other week, the performances of some players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) trump others.

Here are the players who made TheCable’s team of the week.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa – Enyimba 

The goalkeeper was constantly called into action in his side’s encounter with Wikki Tourists. He made a number of crucial saves.

Ernest Governor – Enyimba

The youngster was composed and defended well against an underperforming Wikki Tourists side. He distributed the ball well when in possession.

Andrew Ikefe – Niger Tornadoes

Ikefe, one of the best defenders in the league, has now shown that he can deliver goals when needed. He helped his side to keep a clean sheet against Yobe Desert Stars and scored the winning goal.

Olalekan Gabriel – Rivers United

He was unfazed when he came up against the likes of Sikiru Olatunbosun and Chukwuka Onuwa. It was a near faultless performance from the central defender. He was full of energy and seemed to get better as his opponents got tired.

Emeka Atuloma – Rivers United

Atuloma was the key man for his side, scoring the equaliser for the Pride of Rivers against MFM FC. He was able to beat the opposition at will and was devastating on the counter.

Godwin Aguda – Rangers 

He showcased the full range of his abilities, particularly in the second half. Apart from being firm in challenges, he was also hard to dispossess.

Solomon Okpako – Rangers

Okpako was solid in his defensive duties and he used the ball intelligently when in possession.

Mohammed Shammasu – Nasarawa United

It was another peerless display from the youngster who was all over the pitch. He was menacing upfront and grabbed the winner.

Daniel Itodo – Plateau United

Itodo’s trademark long throws caused Heartland all sorts of problems. He got rewarded when he fed Tosin Omoyele for a much-needed equaliser in the dying moments of the game.

Tosin Omoyele – Plateau United

Omoyele put in a tenacious display, worked tirelessly to close down defenders and made intelligent runs. He also found the back of the net.

Victor Mbaoma – Akwa United

The former Remo Stars skipper was all over the Sunshine Stars defence line. His efforts yielded the match winner.
