Bukola Olopade, the director-general of the National Sports Commission (NSC), seeks more partnerships between sports stakeholders and Foniso, a social networking app for sports fans.

Olopade said a partnership with Foniso will aid in the amplification of local sports talent through digital innovation.

Foniso is an app that helps sports enthusiasts find a community and talk exclusively about sports.

On his part, Dominic Essien, founder of Foniso, said the endorsement from NSC reinforces the platform’s mission to revolutionise sports networking and career development.

He added that over 50 percent of local sports talents do not have visibility online, and Foniso can provide a platform for these athletes and play a critical role in shaping the future of African sports through technology.

In March, Foniso had announced a partnership with organisers of the 2025 Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) games.

Foniso said the app will provide a dynamic digital space where athletes, journalists and sports stakeholders at the Niger Delta games can interact, adding that it will boost their visibility and reach a global audience.

The platform will also facilitate real-time updates of activities at the games, engagement from fans, and networking opportunities for sports talents seeking connections with clubs, scouts, and enthusiasts worldwide.

In 2024, Foniso announced plans to work with sports administrators nationwide to showcase local talents.
