The federal capital territory (FCT) command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says 82 suspected vandals and 22 illegal miners were arrested in Abuja, the nation’s capital, between August and December.
Olusola Odumosu, the FCT commandant of NSCDC, spoke in Abuja on Thursday in an interview with NAN.
Odumosu said 20 of the suspects were arrested in connection with manhole cover theft and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure.
He said five suspects were apprehended in September for alleged vandalism of electrical cables while 14 were nabbed for alleged destruction of other public property and two for alleged television theft.
