The Ondo state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested a 26-year-old woman for human trafficking.
In a statement on Thursday, Daniel Aidamenbor, the command spokesperson, said the suspect “facilitates the trafficking of young persons from Akwa Ibom, Calabar and its environs to Akure for forced labour”.
He said the suspect, identified as Arit Ufara, was arrested with three victims whose ages range from 18 to 21.
Aidamenbor added that they have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Earlier in the year, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) said stiffer penalties needed to be given to persons involved in human trafficking in Nigeria.
Ola Erinfolami, south-west zonal coordinator of the commission, said the “situation of trafficking in Nigeria needs a drastic solution,” adding that people need to be aware of the evil effect of forced displacement.
