NSCDC arrests three for ‘illegal mining, cable theft’ in Ondo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested three persons for “illegal mining and armoured cable theft” in Ondo state.

Daniel Aidamenbor, the corps public relations officer in the state, said this on Wednesday in a statement.

He identified the suspects as Modashiru Nasiru, 18; Hassan Yaya, 19; and Aloa Segun, 40.

Aidamenbor said Nasiru and Yaya were detained on August 13 for illegal mining in the Oke-Igbo area of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo.

He noted that armoured cables, recline cables, and a generator, collectively valued at N3.3 million, were recovered from Segun. 

He said the suspects will be prosecuted once investigations have been concluded.
