Edo state male and female football teams have defeated Team Lagos to the gold medals at the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival (NSF).
The state’s male football team beat Lagos 3-2 while their female counterpart pipped their opponent 1-0 at the University of Benin sports complex stadium.
As day 11 activities continued at the NSF, Hemery Calvin of Delta state won gold in the men’s singles tennis event. Calvin beat Oparaoji Uche of Imo in a two straight set of 6-1, 6-2.
In the men’s 200m race, Edo’s Alaba Olukunle Akintola came first to win gold while Lagos’ Jerry Jakpa and Okeze Chidi Delta went home with silver and bronze medals respectively.

Grace Nzubechi Nwokocha ran 22:79secs to claim women’s 200m gold. She was followed by Tima Godbless of Bayelsa and Praise Ofoku also of Delta.
Delta quartet of Ese Brume, Praise Idamadudu, Praise Ofoku and Oluwakemi Francis claimed the women’s 4×100 relay in 44:37 seconds.
Lagos and Bayelsa also won silver and bronze respectively.

Edo was the winner in the men’s 4x100m race in 39.76 seconds. Delta won the silver while Lagos took bronze.
Team Lagos won the gold in the female basketball event after out dunking Bayelsa who claimed silver. Kano won bronze medal.
Kaduna state won gold in the hockey event.
In handball, Kano clinched the gold, Lagos silver while Edo took bronze in the male category.

Team Delta won the gold in the female category with Edo and Kaduna claiming the silver and bronze respectively.
