NURTW president: We’ll work closely with Tinubu on economic recovery

Tajudeen Baruwa, president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), says the union is ready to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration to actualise its economic policies and programmes.

Baruwa spoke on Thursday shortly after he was sworn in alongside other executive members of the union during the 10th national quadrennial delegate conference of NURTW held in Lafia, Nasarawa state.

“NURTW members would be working closely with the president through the transportation sector to ensure the country’s economy becomes better and address Nigerians’ concerns, irrespective of the location they may be,” he said.

He assured that the union would always ensure the safety of commuters and their goods, adding that this would add to the federal government’s efforts at achieving economic recovery.

“The conference in-session after critically assessing Tinubu’s administration, though less than three months in office, expressed satisfaction with the steps taken so far towards revamping the economy of the country for the overall benefit of the people,” Baruwa said.

“Due to this, we expressed our total support for his administration’s policies and programmes with the belief that if transparently implemented, it will definitely reduce the hardship encountered by the masses.”

He also commended Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa, for providing a conducive atmosphere for the union to hold its conference.

The NURTW president said his leadership of the union would strengthen the cooperation with the police to ensure law and order are adhered to across parks and garages in the country.

He added that other stakeholders would also be parleyed to ensure the country’s transportation sector becomes better.
