YD Ahmed, the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says corps members will start receiving their new N77,000 allowance by February.
Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State, Ahmed revealed that the new increment has been included in the 2025 budget.
He added that the payment will commence once the budget is passed.
Ahmed said the government is committed to corps members’ welfare and security, urging them to reciprocate the gesture by serving diligently.

He urged the corps members to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities, adding that they would not be posted to areas with security threats.
“Let me quickly inform you that the federal government have already approved the increment of our allowance. It is no longer news. We have the approval in our hands. All we are waiting for is just the passage of the budget. Once it is passed, hopefully by next month, you people will start receiving your new allowance. We are hoping that instead of the N33,000 it is now going to be N77,000,” he said.
“I have to tell you so that some unscrupulous elements will not be spreading false news. You should hear it from me directly.”
