A think-tank set up by Olusegun Obasanjo, former president, on Thursday submitted a report on strategic areas of governance to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Garba Shehu, spokesman of the Buhari campaign organisation, Obasanjo set up the think-tank four months ago with the aim of carrying out a study on the challenges confronting the country in the areas of education, power, economy, security and infrastructure, and the result of the study was to be made available to the incoming administration.
“Kalu Idika Kalu, vice chairman of the committee, presented volumes of the report to Buhari during a brief ceremony at his campaign support group’s office at Lobito Crescent in Abuja,” he said.
“Christopher Kolade who heads the power committee, gave various stages of the proposed power sector development plan to include, short term, medium term, long-term solutions.

“Under the short-term solution, the plan seeks to raise the country’s power generation to 10,000 MW within a very short period of time. The president-elect expressed gratitude to Obasanjo and his team, describing their intervention as a great impetus for the incoming government.”
Garna said Buhari expressed regrets that the outgoing government that was supposed to give him tips on how to take-off had done nothing so far.
“He thanked the Obasanjo for their gesture, assuring them that his administration would be needing their advice as time goes on,” he added.

The delegation, which presented the report, was from the centre for human security of the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library (OOPL).
