Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is billed to speak at the public presentation of a book titled, ‘The Catalyst: Nigerian ICT Evolution Through a Journalist’s Lens’.
The book is authored by Dayo Oketola, former editor of The Punch, and will be launched on September 17 in Lagos.
In a statement on Thursday, Oketola said the event will feature a lecture to celebrate his tenure as editor of The Punch and 20 years in journalism.
“My 20 remarkable years of stewardship to the nation via media and leadership practices have driven advocacy and impacted areas such as business and economy, ICT, energy, agriculture, social inclusion, anti-corruption, drug trafficking prevention, and nation-building, a testament to the power of journalism in shaping our society,” the statement reads.

Dignitaries expected to attend the book launch include Michael Ikpoki, former chief executive officer of MTN Nigeria; Akin Olaniyan, convener, Centre for Social Media Research, Mohammed Idris, and minister of information and national orientation.
Others are Adeyeye Joseph, managing director/ editor-in-chief of Punch Nigeria Limited; and Eze Anaba, president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
While serving at The Punch, Oketola won the editor of the year prize at the Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMA) in December 2023.

Oketola is also a two-time winner of the Zimeo Excellence in Media Awards.
