Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state, has appointed Andrew Okungbowa, a former reporter at the Guardian newspaper, as his chief press secretary (CPS).
In a statement on Tuesday, Osarodion Ogie, secretary to the state government (SSG), said the appointment takes immediate effect.
“The Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of Andrew Okungbowa as his chief press secretary,” the statement reads.
Before his appointment, Okungbowa was the editor of travel and tourism at the New Telegraph newspaper.

He had also served as president of the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET).
Prior to joining the New Telegraph, he was a senior correspondent at the Guardian newspaper till 2013.
Okungbowa obtained his first degree in Theatre Arts at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in 1988 and holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
