Obiano backs protesters, says ex-Anambra SARS commander will be prosecuted

Willie Obiano, governor of Anambra, has endorsed the #EndSARS protest.

There have been a nationwide protest against police brutality and violation of human rights.

At the height of the protest, Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), announced a ban on the special anti-robbery squad (SARS).

But the protesters refused to leave the streets, demanding an overhaul of the police.

Allegations of human rights abuse have been levelled against Nwafor.

“Today, I joined youths of our dear State to say #EndPoliceBrutality and I support them because they did not only vote and defend their votes in my 21-over-21 victory but all their requests are genuine and germane, and I oblige to honour them all,” Obiano tweeted.

“I felt honoured being in their midst to share in their feelings; and I made it clear that: first, Federal Government has disbanded SARS but I will personally visit all SARS offices in Anambra State to ensure that anyone being held is released, immediately.
