Obiano celebrates supreme court victory

Governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, has described the judgment of the supreme court reaffirming his election as a victory for the people.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared him the governor, while the election petitions tribunal and the court of appeal, subsequently upheld the declaration until the pronouncement by the apex court.

Expressing appreciation to the people who converged on the governor’s lodge to celebrate with him, Obiano promised to be diligent and selfless.

He said he would do his best to boost development in the state in order to make Anambra occupy its rightful pride of place as the ‘Light of the Nation.

Obaino, however, extended an olive branch to other top politicians who also participated in the election.

“The dawn of a new glory has arrived,” he said.

“We have a chance to build the Anambra of our dream and no man can do it alone. Once again, I call on my brothers, Senator Chris Ngige and Dr Tony Nwoye to join hands with me and work for a better Anambra state.”

While Ngige was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nwoye contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
