Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi, has directed security operatives to fish out the hoodlums who attacked Murtala Ajaka, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 governorship election.
On August 23, the supreme court dismissed the appeal filed by Ajaka and the SDP, and affirmed Ododo as the duly elected governor of Kogi state.
Ajaka was reportedly attacked by some hoodlums shortly after the apex court upheld Ododo’s victory.
In a statement issued by Kingsley Fanwo, commissioner for information, Ododo condemned the attack on Ajaka, adding that the perpetrators must be brought to justice.

“As a government, we implore the law enforcement agencies to fish out the perpetrators and make them face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
“This is necessary to serve as a deterrent to others and protect the integrity and safety of our court environments across the country.
“Kogi government condemns in the strongest terms, the unwarranted attack that took place moments after determining the electoral litigation involving the Governors of Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States.

“The conduct of the hoodlums is barbaric, uncivilised and a grave danger to the institution of justice.”
