Usman Ododo inaugurates police response office

Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi, says he intends to lead and win the war against criminals in the state.

Ododo spoke at the commissioning of the office complex of the quick response unit of the state police command, according to a statement issued Wednesday by Ismaila Isah, special adviser to the governor on media.

Ododo said his administration will take proactive measures to completely deal with security challenges.

“I am not here to do my best. I am here to defeat criminals,” he said.

“We are winning the war against insecurity and we are very intentional about our work to strengthen the state’s security architecture.”

The governor said no resource will be spared in a bid to guarantee safety and security in every inch of the state.

Ododo commended the dedication and sacrifices of security agencies, and pledged to continue prioritising technological enablers to enhance intelligence-gathering capabilities and to help in combatting emerging threats.

The governor urged residents to support the state’s efforts by remaining vigilant and providing credible and timely information to security agencies.

According to the statement, the quick response squad is focused on 24-hour response capability, enhanced intelligence gathering, and a community-based approach to policing.

The security initiative is a partnership with the rapid response squad of the federal police and the state’s joint task force.
