Oludare Kadiri, deputy speaker of the Ogun state house of assembly, has been impeached.

Kadiri was impeached on Thursday during plenary over allegations of gross misconduct.

He was arrested last week by the state police command for alleged assault during the revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kadiri was detained at the criminal investigation department at the police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state capital.

He was later released after interrogation.

Subsequently, some of his colleagues signed a petition seeking his removal.

Kadiri’s impeachment was pronounced by Olakunle Oluomon, speaker of the assembly, after the ad-hoc committee constituted to investigate the allegations against him found him guilty.
