Ogun corps boss asks Nigerians to stop pleading for traffic offenders

Adekunle Ajibade, commander of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has asked Nigerians to stop interceding for motorists apprehended for violating traffic rules.

Ajibade also condemned incessant assault of TRACE’s personnel by “recalcitrant motorists”.

He urged relatives to always remind motorists to obey traffic rules, adding that driving against traffic is a serious offence which the corps would not condone.

Ajibade said many families have lost loved ones, especially their breadwinners, because of motorists who drive against traffic.

“The public should stop begging for offenders who drive against traffic flow as imposing stiff punishment on such drivers would serve as deterrent to others who intend to commit such offence,” he said.

Seni Ogunyemi, the corps commander of TRACE, directed area commanders to intensify public campaigns on traffic laws.

Ogunyemi reiterated the corps’ commitment to collaborating with allied agencies to ensure safety on the roads.
