More Ogun lawmakers ‘planning to leave PDP’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will lose more legislators to other parties if it does not begin to protest their interests, Joseph Adegbesan, a member of the Ogun house of assembly who defected to Labour Party (LP) has said.

Speaking with NAN in Abeokuta, Adegbesan said he had picked LP’s ticket to contest the federal house of representatives election for Ijebu North, East and Ogun Waterside constituency.

Adegbesan said he left the PDP after consultations with his supporters, adding that the move to the new party would enable him achieve his political dream.

“I left the PDP after consulting with my people and they gave me the go ahead,,” he said.

“I also want to let you know that more PDP lawmakers whose interests are not protected by the party will defect to other parties.

“As politicians, we need to do everything possible to bring the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of our people. I want to advise the people to be law-abiding and shun any form of violence.”

Adegbesan, who represents Ijebu North 11 Constituency in the state assembly, was among the five lawmakers who joined PDP only on November 11, 2014.
