Oilserv Engineering Limited has inaugurated the Assa gas process treatment plant in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo state.

The facility was inaugurated on May 15.

Speaking to journalists on the sideline of the inauguration, Nnanna Anyanwu, managing director of Oilserv, said his company is proud to contribute to Nigeria’s transition to clean energy.

Anyanwu said: “The project will turn around the Nigerian economy. We have increased our ability to deliver on infrastructure, we have gained the skills but most importantly we have improved our competitiveness globally.

“Beyond that, is the value we then bring for our clients. So by the time you think about this pipeline, how it’s going to unlock gas, how it’s going to contribute to Nigeria’s decade of gas, how it’s to ensure that going forward, Nigeria can transition to cleaner fuel, ultimately you see that it’s progress for the nation.”

On his part, Emmanuel Assor, the traditional ruler of Assa Autonomous Community in Ohaji, said the project is an economic boost to the area and the nation, adding that it will add value to the economy of the country.

“It is a thing of joy that we have this. It will create job opportunities for our people and we pray that they will give us that concessional treatment as people from this area who have donated a lot,” Assor said.

“Our people are predominantly farmers who have now lost their farmland to the establishment of this project.

“We are hopeful that it will help in the development of this area as we are sure that other investors will come to invest in the area. As they see the gas here a huge lot of people will come here to invest.

“Our people are happy, but we expect NNPC to reciprocate, it is not very easy to make this kind of sacrifice. Our people have made this sacrifice, this sacrifice has to yield results to the community.”

Also, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated three gas infrastructure projects on May 15.

Tinubu inaugurated the AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 (GPP – 2) – which has a capacity of 200 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) — jointly owned by Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO), AHL and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

It is an expansion to the Kwale Gas Processing Plant (GPP – 1), located in Delta.

The president also inaugurated the ANOH-OB3 CTMS gas pipeline project and ANOH gas processing plant located in Imo state — which are jointly owned by AGPC Seplat Energy and NNPC.
