Okorocha: Most APC members feel they have not been carried along

Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to consider including more members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his government.

Speaking with state house correspondents on Sunday, Okorocha said many members of the party were crying of neglect.

He was reacting to suggestions that Buhari should reshuffle his cabinet.‎

‎”If there is a clarion call for Mr President to take a look at his cabinet and bring in more people, there is nothing wrong for Mr President to take note of comments by people because if everyone keeps saying the same thing, there may be sense in what they’re saying. But that’s not really the situation that would create a big hullabaloo,” he said.‎

“Most people of the party felt that they have not been carried along. I know that many of them complain every day. They want board appointments released so that there will be calm.

“The people from the southeast said they have not been appointed; the people from the northeast and even from the northwest where Mr. President comes from said they have not been appointed; some local governments and villages are saying they have not been remembered. So, at what point do we draw this line? But there is always room for amendment because there is no perfection.‎”

In an interview with the BBC, Aisha, Buhari’s wife, had also lamented that he appointed non-party members in his government.

She said she would not give him her support, under the present circumstances, if he sought re-election.
