Okpebholo assigns portfolios to new commissioners in Edo

Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo, has sworn six commissioners into the state’s executive council.

In a statement on Tuesday, Umar Ikhilor, secretary to the state government, said the governor assigned portfolios to the new commissioners.

He said Paul Ohonbamu would oversee the ministry of information and communications while Washington Osifo will take charge of the ministry of water resources and energy.

Ikhilor added that Emmanuel Iyamu was assigned to the ministry of education, Lucky Eseigbe to the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, and Andrew Ijegbai to the mining ministry.

The secretary to the state government said all commissioners are expected to resume duties at their respective ministries immediately.

Last year, Okpebholo nominated Cyril Oshiomhole, a medical doctor, as the commissioner of health.

Cyril is the son of Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo, who is a serving senator.

The governor also nominated Samson Osagie, a former member of the national assembly, as the attorney-general and commissioner for justice.
