Okpebholo recalls suspended attorney general, says panel exonerated him

Samson Osagie, Edo state attorney-general

Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo, has recalled Samson Osagie, attorney general and commissioner of justice for the state.

On February 5, Osagie was suspended alongside Damian Lawani, chairman of the Edo Local Government Service Commission, over alleged financial infractions.

Osagie had said he was prepared to vigorously defend himself and establish his innocence, adding that he had not committed any financial infraction.

A letter signed by Umar Ikhilor, secretary to the state government, and dated March 12, said the investigative panel’s report “completely exonerated Osagie of financial infractions”.
