Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo, has signed the appropriation bill of N485 billion into law.
Fred Itua, spokesperson to the governor, said in a statement on Monday that the budget marks a significant move by the new administration to ensure rapid implementation of developmental projects.
Itua said Okpebholo commended lawmakers for “their swift action” in passing the bill, adding that the budget will set the tone for transformative governance.
“I want to thank you for your cooperation and the speedy passage of this bill. With this momentum, Edo State is set to experience remarkable development,” the statement reads.

“I see a team of dedicated individuals ready to work for the betterment of our state.”
On his part, Blessing Agbebaku, speaker of the Edo state house of assembly, said the legislature is committed to supporting the administration’s vision and ensuring continuity in government.
“The 8th Assembly expedited the passage of this appropriation law to allow the new administration to commence its projects without delay,” the speaker said.

“Government is a continuum, and we are committed to fostering development for the people of Edo state.”
The budget, which was initially presented on November 13, 2024, underwent accelerated deliberations before it was passed and signed into law by the legislature and executive.
