Vice-President Kashim Shettima says Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo, will transform his state.

Shettima spoke in Benin City, capital of Edo, during the swearing in ceremony of Okpebholo as incumbent governor of Edo.

Until Okpebholo was sworn in, he was the senator representing Edo central.

The vice-president said leadership could be challenging, but it also offers an opportunity to drive development and “dismantle obstacles that hinder progress”.

“The election of Senator Okpebholo and deputy Idahosa is not just an individual victory but a powerful endorsement of collective will and a hallmark of democracy,” NAN quoted the second citizen as saying.

“Edo state has chosen leaders with character and a record of results.

“Senator Okpebholo and his Deputy Idahosa embody a commitment to overcome inherited challenges not with fear but with courage and a focus on the common good for all Edo people, supporters and opponents alike.

“We have embarked on these reforms with the goal of creating a strong foundation for new opportunities. Only leaders of integrity can fully harness these reforms for the country’s benefit.”

The vice-president expressed optimism that under the stewardship of Okpebholo, Edo would have “abundant” jobs, education, accessible, healthcare, and the necessary infrastructure the state needs.
