Ola Aina nominated for EPL goal of the season award

Ola Aina’s goal against West Brom has been shortlisted for the English Premier League (EPL) goal of the season award.

The goal was the second of the match and it came in the 30th minute of the game.

An overlapping run from Aina placed him at the perfect spot for Aleksandar Mitrovic’s flick-on. The 24-year-old then sank the bootlace of his weaker left foot and the ball sailed into the top right corner.

The goal had earlier won Aina an EPL goal of the month award in November.

The 25-yard strike will contend with nine others for the prize.

The competition includes goals from Manuel Lanzini, Jesse Lingard and Sebastien Haller, James Maddison, Mohamed Salah, Erik Lamela, Bruno Fernandes, and Edinson Cavani.

Aina was a mainstay in the Fulham side that eventually got relegated. He joined the London club on a one-year loan from Torino FC.

The winner of the EPL goal of the season award is decided by a combination of votes from fans and a panel of football experts.

Voting is open from Tuesday until 6pm on June 3 and the winner will be announced later in the week.
