Oliseh: Home-based Eagles have won nothing yet

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, is not carried away with the 2-0 win the home-based national team recorded against Burkina Faso in a 2016 CHAN qualifier with the return leg still to be played.

A goal in each half from Bature Yaro and Gbolahan Salami gave the Nigerians a slight edge going into the return leg in Ouagadougou in a week’s time.

But Oliseh has warned his team are yet to qualify for the tournament in Rwanda in 2016.

“The home Eagles fared very well against their opponents, Les Etalons of Burkina Faso. This is our first match with the home-based Super Eagles and I think it came off quite well,” he told supersport.com.

“However, I think we have not won anything yet going into the second leg fixture in Ouagadougou if we could score two goals here nothing stops the Burkinabe scoring same number of goals in the reverse fixture.

“So we will prepare harder with more organised mind to win well and secure the CHAN ticket right there in Ouagadougou for Nigerians.”

The former Eagles’ captain, however, commended his opponents for their effort.

“The Burkinabe were somehow flawless and combustive, I think they gave my charges a strong run for their money,” he said.

“It will be an entertaining and interesting reverse-fixture right there in Ouagadougou.”

The eventual winner will qualify automatically for the CHAN in Rwanda.
