Olusegun Omotola has been appointed as the acting director-general (DG) of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
Omotola took over from Mamman Ahmadu who was relieved of his appointment by President Bola Tinubu on June 15.
According to a statement on Friday issued by Janet McDickson, deputy director of information and public relations and head of media at BPP, the acting DG was the director of legal services in the bureau and the most senior director in BPP before the appointment.
McDickson said Omotola is married with children and hails from Ijumu local government area in Kogi state.

According to the spokesperson, Omotola obtained his Bachelor of Law (L.L.B Hons) degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, in 1991.
The bureau said Omotola has attended many courses and seminars in capacity building, contract negotiations, drafting and management, computer hardware and operating systems.
Others include total quality management, infrastructure development, public-private partnerships for infrastructure and services seminars, effective leadership and change management, office routine and work ethics in high-impact leadership.

“He also had trainings in maintaining acceptable financial management for sustainable development in the public sector, federal civil service strategy and implementation plan (FCSSIP) amongst many others,” McDickson said.
She said Omotola also represented the federal ministry of finance, budget and national planning on the Ajaokuta project presidential implementation team sub-committee.
This committee was established, according to the bureau, to verify the outstanding federal government liabilities generated by the Ajaokuta Steel Company and National Ores Mining Company, Itakpe, in Kogi state, from July 2020 to August 2021.
McDickson said the acting DG is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), adding that he also serves on the governing council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

Also, the spokesperson said Omotola had served in many federal government organisations before his posting to the bureau.
