Olympics Day 14: Amusan competes in women’s 100mH semi-final

Tobi Amusan will compete in the semi-final of the women’s 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

The 27-year-old will file out in lane six of the first heat of the event’s semi-final by 11:05 am.

She qualified for the penultimate round with the second fastest time overall from the qualification phase, behind only Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quin.

Amusan should be able to beat the field once again and keep Nigeria’s medal hope in the event alive.

With Ese Brume finishing fifth in the women’s long jump, Team Nigeria’s chance of a medal in athletics rests on Amusan.

Early in the day, Nigeria’s men’s 4 x400m team will be competing in the event.

In Taekwondo, Elizabeth Anyanacho takes on Song Jie of China in round 16 of the women’s 67kg by 10:11 am.

In wrestling, Esther Kolawole and Ashton Mutuma will compete in the second round of men’s and women’s freestyle.
