The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face Japan in their final group game at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Randy Waldrum-led ladies must defeat the Japanese comfortably to have a chance of progressing out of the group stage.
Falcons are currently rooted at the base of the group after losing their first two games by an identical 1-0 scoreline.
They were beaten 1-0 by Brazil in the opening game and also conceded a late Alexia Putellas freekick in the loss to Spain a few days later.
Nigeria must defeat Japan by a scoreline of at least three goals difference and hope Spain defeat Brazil in the other group game to finish in second place.
However, Falcons can also qualify as one of the two best third-place teams with a victory over Japan while hoping that the results in other groups favour them.
Nigeria will face Japan at La Beaujoire Stadium, Nantes, by 4 pm.
In badminton, Anuoluwapo Opeyori will be hoping to rebound from his loss in his first game.
On Tuesday, he lost 2-0 to Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi. Opeyori will be facing China’s Li Shi Feng in the final group game by 6:30 pm.
