On its 10th anniversary, TheCable thanks supporters, friends — and critics

TheCable, your favourite online newspaper, is 10 today.

As we mark a decade of excellence, we want to express our deep gratitude to everyone who has been on our side, encouraging us to stay the course, challenging us to be better versions of ourselves and knocking us when we fall below acceptable standards. We are grateful for the motivation that this gives us.

We are extremely grateful to advertisers, both in the public and private sectors, who believed in us at the very beginning when all we had was promise, as well as those who came on board thereafter and have remained steadfast. Without these financial resources, we would not have thrived. We promise to deliver value more than ever before.

As we enter our second decade, we remain committed to our mandate “to deliver knowledge-driven journalism in the pursuit of Nigeria’s progress”. At the inception, we promised to practise journalism that wants to discuss not just the problem but also wants to be part of the solution. We are more than determined to keep delivering on this and to keep going higher.

We are aware that we still fall short in certain areas. We are happy to receive more comments, observations and suggestions as we seek to attain greater heights in our practice of journalism.

With a heart full of thanks, we promise to remain non-partisan, to practise journalism with integrity, to respect diversity and to defend the public integrity.
