Onazi, Akpom, Eleke… TheCable’s team of the week

Many Nigerian players were in action for their respective clubs in the past week.

The top performers made TheCable’s team of the week.

They are;

Francis Uzoho [Elche]

The goal-minder returned from a five-week injury and was in fine form in the 0-0 draw with Sporting Gijon. He made a handful of impressive saves.

Joel Obi [Chievo Verona]

Obi’s crosses from the left caused the Parma defenders endless problems. He also helped out the central midfielders during the game.

Uche Agbo [Standard Liege]

At some point in the season, Agbo struggled for consistent form, but he appears to be back to his best against St.Truiden. He thwarted the opposition on many occasions.

Kenneth Omeruo [Leganes]

Is Omeruo fulfilling his potential? His performance against Getafe would suggest so as the defender made some crucial challenges and interceptions, as well as looking comfortable in possession.

Ola Aina [Torino]

Does Nigeria have a better option a right full-back presently? Probably not. The defender was once again solid defensively against AC Milan.

Obinna Nwobodo ]Ujpest]

The former Rangers wonder was all over the pitch. He was a calming influence on his team in the win over Vidi FC.

Ogenyi Onazi [Trabzonspor]

Onazi is slowly starting to prove his doubters wrong. Playing in a deeper role than usual, Onazi made a number of important clearances from inside his own area and also scored a goal.

Ramon Azeez [Lugo]

In what was a six-goal thriller between Lugo and Las Palmas, Ramon Azeez was heavily involved. The midfielder’s tenacious style resulted in him winning back possession for Lugo at crucial moments.

Chuba Akpom ]PAOK]

Blink and you would have missed Akpom’s stunning match-winner. He climbed off the bench and proved his mettle.

Blessing Eleke [Luzern]

A wonder strike for the first goal, then the second to kill off Grasshopper Zürich. What a night for him.

Aminu Umar [Rizespor]
Just like Eleke, Aminu is in fine form at present. His goal at Galatasaray showed a great striker’s instinct.
