Onazi: Painful I can’t play against Egypt in Kaduna

Onazi during the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations final match between Nigeria and Burkina Faso

Ogenyi Onazi, FC Lazio and Super Eagles midfield star, says “it is painful” that he is ineligible to play in the first leg of the double-header against Egypt in Kaduna, due to the red card he got in the match against Chad in June, 2015.

But Onazi told TheCable from his base in Italy that his exclusion from the game, will not be a calamity as he will be playing in Alexandria, Egypt, which is more important to him.

“It is painful that I won’t be on the pitch to face the Pharaohs in Kaduna because I still got a match suspension to serve from the red card I picked in the match against Chad last year for the AFCON qualifier,” he said.

“But I believe so much in my team mates to beat the Egyptian while I support them from the bench.

“So, the most important of the two legged game is the one that will be played in Egypt. I am ready to give my best there and possibly help the team to shock the host on their home soil.”
