“It is quite unfortunate that we as a country always have issues around this period when we have very important qualifying games. This game is very important to me and the team for both AFCON and the World Cup.”
He said the three coaches selected by the NFF to over see the Egypt game are “great”.
“They are great coaches with experience and pedigree. All they have to do is chip in one or two things to the team and then we are good to go.”

Onazi also said he would be very happy if Enyeama and Emenike returned to the team.
“We’ll be very happy to have them back. I spoke with them before now and the most important thing is for us to come together and make the country proud and keep sentiment aside. Our country first before other things,” he said.
He also appealed to Nigerians to support the team with prayers, saying: “I want Nigerians to go out en masse to the stadium to support us, just as they did in Port Harcourt against Swaziland.
“They were patient with us even when the goals was yet to come. They were cheering us up. And everybody should have positive mind towards the team regardless of who and who is called to play or not.”
