Ondo APC ward suspends Jimoh Ibrahim over ‘anti-party activities’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) ward executives in Igbotako ward II under Okitipupa LGA of Ondo state have suspended Jimoh Ibrahim, senator representing Ondo south.

The senator was suspended days after he called the party’s governorship primary election in the state a “mega fraud”.

In April, Ibrahim contested the APC governorship primary election in Ondo but lost to Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor.

He is currently in court, seeking an order for a fresh exercise.

A notice issued on Wednesday said Ibrahim was suspended for alleged anti-party activities.

The notice was signed by Bakere Usuf, Tore Obwoselu, Oloyinmi Idowu, Borewaye Louyomi, Oladipupo Bose, Alkimbobola Seyi, Lawal-Babatunde, Aritawe-Ademole, Akinkuoju Olarewaju, and Fabioye Ajoke—all party executives in the ward.

However, another faction declared support for the senator.

In a statement, Adetokunbo Omotola, ward chairman, and 26 other APC officials said they were shocked at how Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi, handled the primary election.

“At the general meeting of Igbotako Ward 2 held today, Thursday 9th May, 2024 at 4pm, we reviewed the fraudulent election of Saturday 20th April, 2024 and resolved as follows,” the statement reads.

“That no election took place at Igbotako Ward 2 and indeed all the other wards in Okitipupa LGA.

“We are surprised to see votes allotted to contestants by the Ododo-led Committee.
